Poem: Fragile

Fragile is a poem written by Angel Leya during her teens when it felt like heartbreak and rejection were all around.

Fragile

China Doll, sitting on a shelf.
Don’t pick her up, you might drop her!
She wants to go home with a child;
To find someone to care for her and love her.
But she’s so scared . . .
of falling down . . .
and shattering . .

A child sees her and loves her.
He takes her home with him.
Shows his father his new friend;
She is safe with them.

Lonely girl, sitting in a corner.
Don’t talk to her—she might cry.
She wants someone to love her
A best friend for her lifetime.
But she’s so scared . . .
Of rejection . . .
Because of who she is . . .

 Jesus sees her and loves her
Embraces her with His love.
Covered with love, He shows her to the Father
She’s safe with them.

Fragile little girl, don’t cry.
Jesus is looking down on you.
He sees your tears and wishes to embrace you.
Just give Him everything you are.
He’ll take you up in His arms.

Again, this was written in my teens. I always felt like a bit of an outcast or ugly duckling. Life has changed dramatically, though I still struggle with some of the same insecurities of my youth. Fortunately, I’m learning day by day to see myself as God sees me – beautiful and lovable.

This was also created to be a song. Maybe one day I’ll put up a video post singing it for you.

What have been your struggles and how have you grown? Or maybe you’re still struggling. Leave a comment below to discuss it. Sometimes it helps to talk about your problems. I know journaling and poetry were my solace.
