Swag! Check out these gorgeous covers. :)

Finally took up Laine on her offer to send me copies of her books. Check these beauties out! I absolutely love being able to see and feel and smell them. And seeing the designs in print is so rewarding. Now I just have to keep them out of reach of my kids’ grubby mitts.

Beloved is the only simple redesign, as we took the original cover image and adjusted to make it a little darker, a little more moody, and that pop of green in the water hearkened back to the old title, He Drinks Poison.

    Creating the covers to wrap is an interesting process, because you only see it flat when designing. I was particularly excited about seeing Writing While Female or Black or Gay, since I drew inspiration from the lined paper background on the front and back designs to create an edge that mimicked a stack of paper. I think it came out great. It’s subtle and a bit understated (didn’t want to interfere with the actual title), but I think it’s effective.

I did all the interior designs for these books, too, and I am so excited about how they came out! From the fonts and styling to the scene dividers and professional layouts. I may just be a fledgling, but I’m so proud of these. The printing went through Lightning Source International, and they really handled everything beautifully. It was a steep learning curve, but worth every lesson.
