I Dream of FireI Dream of Fire by Daphne James Huff
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Description

Charlie dreams of fire.

But it’s not just any dream, it’s a Dream, an ability that has helped cobble her broken world back together.

So when her family insists that she hides her dreams, she takes them at their word… until the boy from her Dreams shows up and shatters everything she believed to be true (like Dreamers never meet those they Dream about).

Now Charlie has to figure out her Role, and it doesn’t seem to fit in neatly with the Roles her society has laid out.

Review

I found this story compelling, despite it having a lack of goal.

And the extra publications were neat, despite the fact that I was craving chapters.

It felt like we ended in the middle of the story (edit: apparently this is part 1 of a 2 part story, which the author has subsequently taken down in favor of combining the two parts), but I admit I’m intrigued enough to read the next one.

The beginning could have been more compelling, more arresting, but it was enough to draw me in anyway.

So, four stars because of the quirks that I didn’t quite gel with, but don’t let that discourage you. :)

And keep an eye out for my review of the next part.

**This was a pleasantly clean read.
