I’m so proud of this story. It’s been through a few rounds of critiques, and I feel it’s my strongest yet. It’s not a happily ever after ending, but it has a beauty all its own.
I first came up with the idea when I found an anthology call for siren submissions. They wanted unique, and I gave it to them, but it didn’t make the cut. Such is life. There’s a lot of competition for those anthologies.
But the story was a finalist for the Neoverse Short Story Competition!
I couldn’t let this story just sit around, and with my time short and Halloween just around the corner, I decided to go ahead and publish. So, yay!
