Poem: Overwhelmed

The Christian journey is not always an easy one, and it can be easy to become discouraged when we do wrong. This is Angel Leya's take on the process.

Overwhelmed

Anger wells up inside me.
Depression turns into rage.
These emotions are overwhelming–
I feel locked in their cage.

I shake my fists
As my anger manifests,
Recalling my insignificance.
Where is my rest?

“Freedom is nowhere to be found!”
I scream to God.
My selfishness abounds
As I seek to pursue God.

But God is refining,
Making me holy and pure,
That I may be shining
When He comes for His girl.

The Christian journey is not always an easy one. The old man is always trying to rise back up and take over. It can be a frustrating thing at times, as you find yourself doing things that you know are not right. Thankfully, we have a God who understands and who actually helps.

Do you find yourself struggling with the decisions you make or the actions you take? How do you deal with the aftermath? Do you learn and grow? Do you forgive yourself and move on? Let’s discuss it in the comments below.
