Poem: The Plea

Depression led to a lot of Angel Leya's poetry, and this piece is about the desire for help and attention as well as the shame that comes with the bad days.

The Plea

Pass me by as I turn my weeping head.
I wish you would look, but hope you don’t see.
I’m alone and no one cares.
They don’t know I’m hurting.
Pray for me, someone, please.

Again, depression was a major theme for me during my teenage years. There was a desire for love and pity, but also a shame that came with feeling like I did. I wanted to be strong and put together, but there was so much hurt inside. Thankfully, time and knowledge has helped to minimize my low times in both frequency and duration, but there are still times that I feel like this.

We all need encouragement now and then. When was the last time you felt down and needed a little love? Do you tend to hide your negative emotions or do you reach out to others? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.
