The Daughter

Daddy, Daddy, come and hug me!
Daddy, please, say You love me.
I need your love;
Hold me tight.
Please draw me in
Towards Your light.
I love you, do you love me?
How can I shake the doubt away?
I look up and see Your face smiling down on me.
Your eyes are intense with Your love for me.
Can’t wait until I get to live eternally in Your garden.
I see You, and I’m sure I’ll see You again.

My earthly father loved me as a child, but he didn’t always know how to show it. I struggled with that distance, and many times I turned to my heavenly Father for comfort. This is one of those times, and I put it all in a succinct little father poem.

How were your relationships with your parents? If you have children, how do you feel your relationship with them is, and does your own raising affect how you relate to them? Let’s discuss it in the comments below.
