Poem: Disturbed

Disturbed is a poem written at a time of fear and uncertainty in Angel Leya's life as she felt threatened by the unwanted attention of a male.

Disturbed

Looking all around me,
laughter floats like bubbles.
Everyone is happy, so I put on my happy face.
But do they see the pain inside?
Fear grips my being, consumes my brain.
Unfamiliar songs make me confused.
Where is my Love? Where is my Comforter?
I can’t feel Him anywhere.
Disturbed.

I wrote this piece at a time when I felt vulnerable and scared, even though I was surrounded by people. If I remember correctly, there was this one guy there that seemed to be following me around the room, and he kind of creeped me out. Nothing bad happened, but I felt certain that if I wasn’t careful, something bad could happen.

When was a time that you felt scared or vulnerable? How did you react? Leave a comment below to discuss it.
