Wow! So i just realized that mentees were doing bios, and I thought I would get in on the fun. Time to #PimpMyBio for #PitchWars!!!!

If you’re here by accident, I’m sure you’re wondering: What is Pitch Wars? Well, I’ll leave that explanation to the lovely Brenda Drake. All you need to know is that the mentors are all awesome, and I encourage you to visit all 108 mentor bios (yes, all of them) to get to know them. I can assure you that you’ll find some awesome books along the way!

Keep scrolling down. I left the pic big because it’s sooo pretty!

Hey Mentors – Pick ME!

What do you need to know about me? I guess the first and most obvious thing is that I’m not a big .gif person. Nothing against them, but I just find myself going ADD when they start looping. *Gotta read it all! – again – again – again – sigh* But I do like pretty pics!

But I digress. I have two lovely children – a 3 yr. old little man, and a 2.5 moth old little darling. Somehow, despite the occasional chaos, I’m still writing.

I love and hate a deadline – I’ll do just about anything to meet it. That goal hangs like a carrot over my furry, long-eared head.

I want – no, I NEED your honest feedback. Yeah, I’m a writer, so I’ll probably go sulk for a minute (just kidding – but not really), but I promise I’ll get over it, learn and move on. In the words of Avril Levigne – the first cut is the deepest – and I’ve been there already, so bring it on.

This is actually my second novel, and I made so many revisions to it that it almost qualifies as a third. I ended up self-pubbing my first novel (young, nervous, impatient, etc.), but this time I’m really trying for a traditional publishing deal. What can I say? This girl dreams.

I love a little bit of the fantastic in what I write. In my first book it was a dream connection between soul mates who had never met. In this one it’s an ancient man who can cut and move rocks sorta telekinetically. In my recent short story, it’s a mermaid. My next few ideas include wizards and magic pens and a land of mist with unicorns and dragons and elves. Seriously, I gotta get writing. The ideas are piling up on me.

I love to learn, and I’ve learned a LOT about writing in the past few years. For instance, writing a book and writing a query or synopsis are soooo very different.

I am much better in writing than I am on the phone, so I prefer to communicate by email, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make my MS the best it can be. Basically, I’ll use the phone if I have to. Just don’t expect a lot of eloquence, and I’ll probably have to email questions after talking because I’m terrible at coming up with questions on the fly. \

I’m anxious to pick that beautiful mind of yours for all that insider info. (Seriously, I want an agent/book deal so bad I can taste it, and right now it tastes like ice cream.)

Pet peeve – I hate it when sentences use “had had” – if my  sentence needs the double had, I’d rather just rewrite it.

I love emojis and have a tendency to use exclamations quite profusely when I’m excited, but I swear I don’t do that in my books! 😀

Last but not least, I will love you forever if you like my writing. No, seriously. I’m actually helping a fellow writer edit their MS partly because they’ve been so helpful beta reading and partly because I really like the story.

For Everyone Else

I LOVE to network! I mean, just check out my Let’s Connect! page. I’m probably on at least one of your favorite social sites. I have a tendency to follow/like back (though I don’t guarantee it – sometimes it’s just not a good fit) and I will get back to you if you message me. Sometimes it takes a while. Kids. Remember? 😀

So no matter who you are or why you stopped by, I just want to give you a big THANK YOU! Have a virtual hug and one more pretty picture.

  1. Yes, I am! Waiting is the hardest part, but it’s nice to have the mentee bios for distraction. :)

  2. Hi Angel! Props for pitching with two littles at home. Like you, I began writing when my oldest was only 6 months old. Fast forward 7 years and I’m two weeks away from sending my youngest to 4K. I’m really excited to write during the day! Good luck at Pitch Wars and hope to see you in Twitterland!

    • Hey Genevieve and thanks for stopping by! Writing with kids can definitely be hard, but the story just has to get out… Are you doing pitch wars too? I’ve been doing plenty of twitter lurking and I’ve been having so much fun connecting.
