Baby’s Little Things

momfeetMy husband commented to me the other day that I say ‘little’ a lot now that we have a sweet little baby boy. I laughed when he told me this. Of course. Baby is little, so there is a sudden abundance of little things. It made me laugh even more when I caught myself doing it. I really do use the word a lot.

Take, for instance, his food. Yeah, I cut it up into little pieces, but the food isn’t necessarily little. Or there are his ‘little’ toys that actually command a lot of space. It doesn’t matter what I’m referring to, if it is his, chances are that word will keep popping up.

As it is, after eight months of growth, my baby boy isn’t really so little anymore. He is about eighteen pounds heavy and over twenty-seven inches long. He’s not as big as an adult, but he is over twice as big as he was when he was born.

I wonder how long he will remain little in my head. Will he be going off to college when I finally drop the adjective? Will I be old and gray and him grown and married with children of his own? How about you? Do you call your child (small or grown) and everything around him or her little? Leave a comment for me below and tell me all about it.
