Check out this new book by fellow author Haylie Machado Hanson!
We’re both authors of young adult fiction, and we share one other similarity – we both recently gave birth to children, and it delayed the launch of our books.
I have to say, this book (and the series) looks very interesting. But you decide for yourself.
With no further ado, I give you Haylie.
“Babysitter. Peacekeeper. Middle child. Ignored.
That’s sixteen-year-old Calliope Jones, the oddball ‘average’ kid in a family full of ultra-talented siblings.”
From the Author: Calliope Jones and The Forests of Mist Launches!
Hello, readers! I’m Haylie, and I’d like to apologize in advance if this blog is incoherent. I’m bone-tired from being up all hours of the night feeding Girl Spawn, who coincidentally came early on launch week. Two October babies for me, what a lucky gal I am!
The biggest news I have (writing-wise, I happen to think Girl Spawn joining the world is pretty big news) is that Calliope Jones and The Forests of Mist launched on Amazon on October 21st!
I’m so excited for you guys to be able to download it and read it. I hope you love it. I know I do, but I’m biased.
So please, download it, read it, review it! Beta feedback with this book was better than the first, and I tend to agree.
And with that, I’m off, since Girl Spawn forgot I just fed her, like, 15 minutes ago. My literary baby is far less demanding. And doesn’t keep me up all night.
Well, I can’t promise my literary baby won’t keep you up all night. In fact, I wish you many sleepless nights as you dive into Callie’s exciting new adventure!
More About The Forests of Mist
When seventeen-year-old Navigator Calliope Jones and her robot World Diver leap into a whirlpool gateway to escape her nemesis, Shadowmancer Nathaniel Ormonde, she has no idea the world she discovers on the other side will be just as deadly as her enemy.
Nebelwald is a land full of skyscraper-sized trees, man-eating monsters lurking through the forest, and mysterious, swirling Mist, a dangerous fog that swallows everything it touches. Just when it seems like she might be out of luck and lost for good, Callie meets a new friend, Soren Rykerson, a young Guide harboring secrets of his own.
Can Callie and Soren beat Nathaniel in the race against time to find Nebelwald’s hidden thread of light, before he hunts her down a second time? Will she ever find a Seer, the only person who can help her and the World Diver make their way home? Or will she be stranded forever, surrounded by Mist, monsters, and small-town intrigue rivaling her worst high school drama?
New to the Series?
Start with book 1, Calliope Jones and The Last World Diver.
Babysitter. Peacekeeper. Middle child. Ignored.
That’s sixteen-year-old Calliope Jones, the oddball “average” kid in a family of ultra-talented siblings. Being ordinary is just fine by Callie, who prefers to spend her days surfing the waters of California and trying to survive the dramas of high school. But when a rogue storm washes a mysterious, glowing object into the surf, she begins to discover she isn’t as ordinary as she thought…
Callie is drawn into the fantastical world of Dr. Ormonde and the giant World Diver, filled with stories of Navigators, Seers, living robots, gateways to other worlds, and ominous, deadly Shadowmancers.
Callie is skeptical of Dr. Ormonde’s strange theories, until a dark presence comes hunting her, threatening to hurt those she holds dear.
She must decide if she is truly the ordinary teenager she thought she was, or if she and the World Diver share a destiny greater than she can imagine.
